Vehicle in viral video obstructing traffic in Petaling Street issued summons [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A summons has been issued to the owner of the vehicle recorded in a recent viral video obstructing traffic near Petaling Street because it was illegally parked.

City Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident took place on Sept 29 along Jalan Sultan.

"A video has since gone viral of the vehicle obstructing traffic to other road users. A summons was issued for obstruction of traffic," he said in a statement.

He said police were constantly conducting enforcement efforts to weed out errant motorists, especially within the city centre.

"My advice is for motorists to be more alert and responsible. Do not park as you like, which will lead to traffic disruptions and affect other drivers.

"What would have happened if an ambulance or fire engine needed to pass at the time.

"Such irresponsible actions of certain drivers will affect others and my personnel will immediately issue summonses and take further action including having vehicles towed off by Kuala Lumpur City Hall," he said.

The 34-second video clip shows a white sports utility vehicle parked indiscriminately by the road shoulder in a yellow box.

The incident caused a commotion when a transit bus experienced difficulties passing the vehicle along the narrow road.
