KUALA LUMPUR: Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos today filed a lawsuit against Sabak Bernam District Council and two others over the sealing and demolition of his resort in Sekinchan.
Jamal, who is the managing director of Jamal Jaya Holding Sdn Bhd that owned Sekin Fishermen Village Hotel and Resort, filed the suit at the Sessions Court’s registry here today.
The Red Shirts leader, as a plaintiff has named Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB), Sabak Bernam Land and District Office and the Selangor state government as the defendants in his suit.
In his statement of claim, he believed the move was a retaliation act by the defendants after he held a protest in front of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah building in Shah Alam over the water disruption that affected over 3.8 million users in Klang Valley last week.
Jamal claimed the first defendant had sealed the resort on Dec 22 before the second defendant demolished parts of his five-year-old properties on the same day.
He also claimed that the demolition of the premises was against the law and a ‘politically-motivated’ act by the PKR-led Selangor state government.
The plaintiff is seeking an injunction to stop the defendants from demolishing the premises and another injunction to prevent them from stopping its operations.
Jamal is also seeking RM140,000 damages following the disturbance caused by the authorities and damages for the demolition.
