Serial rapist Selva Kumar back in M'sia, exits KLIA through back door

SEPANG: Convicted Malaysian serial rapist Selva Kumar Subbiah arrived in the country this morning after being deported from Canada.

He arrived on Qatar Airways flight QR844 at 7.30am, after which Bukit Aman officials from the Sexual Crime unit whisked him to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Immigration Operations Centre to have his statement recorded, before he was escorted from the terminal.

Selva is believed to have used an alternative exit at 9.50am, leaving the hordes of press members here in the lurch, without so much as a photo.

As many as 20 members of the press had been camped out here, anticipating his arrival since 7.30am, but were only just told by airport police that Selva Kumar had used another exit.

Selva Kumar returned to the country after serving a 24-year jail term in Toronto.

In 1992, he was convicted of 19 counts of sexual assault, 28 counts of administering drugs or noxious substances, 10 counts of various assaults and a dozen other charges.

His case is considered one of the worst serial sexual assault cases in Canadian history.

On Jan 30, Selva Kumar was ordered to be deported to Malaysia by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
