KUALA LUMPUR: News on the death of former national badminton doubles player Datuk Razif Sidek, which has gone viral on social media, is false, said his younger brother, Rashid Sidek.
When contacted by Bernama, Rashid confirmed that the news is fake and that his brother is now in Genting Highlands, Pahang, attending the Purple League Badminton Championship.
"I was shocked when I started receiving calls from friends asking about the matter since last night. If the news were true, I would have been informed earlier," he said.
Rashid expressed regret over the actions of the individuals who uploaded a picture of a man, alleged to be Razif, lying on a hospital bed.
"Such matters cannot be toyed with, as it involves the lives and feelings of people close to (Razif)," he said. - BERNAMA
