Media frenzy at HKL as press await updates on Kim Jong-Nam post-mortem

KUALA LUMPUR: City police chief Datuk Amar Singh was seen leaving Hospital Kuala Lumpur mortuary at 11am, where Kim Jong-Nam's body is expected to arrive for a post mortem.

As of 11.27am, the HKL mortuary compound is filled with reporters, both local and foreign, awaiting updates on the case.

Two cars bearing diplomatic plate numbers arrived and several people were seen entering the mortuary.

Media personnel who gathered at the Forensic Department as early as 9.15am were not allowed to enter the mortuary, which is heavily guarded by the police.

On Monday, Jong-Nam was allegedly poisoned by two women believed to spies at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2).

Yesterday, Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmad was quoted as saying the police were told that Jong-Nam was sent to the Putrajaya Hospital from KLIA2 after he had complained about feeling dizzy.

Initial investigations found that he was at KLIA2 at 8am to board a flight to Macau which was scheduled at 9am on Monday.

It was reported that, while waiting for the flight, a woman came from behind and covered his face with a cloth laced with a liquid.

Forty-seven-year-old Jong-nam and Jong-un are both sons of former leader Kim Jong-il, who died in late 2011, but they had different mothers.

The former is believed to have fallen out of favor with his father in 2001 after he was caught trying to enter Japan on a false Dominican passport.
