Post-mortem reveals Kuantan housewife died of neck compression

KUANTAN: The 28-year-old housewife who was found dead in her house in Indera Mahkota here on Aug 14 had died of compression to her neck.

State police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the incident was a crime and the victim did not commit suicide.

"The post-mortem found signs of compression on the victim's neck which resulted in her death," he told reporters after opening the state-level anti-scam townhall organised by the police and state Education Department at SMK Tengku Afzan here today (Thursday).

Yahaya was asked to comment on the progress of the case of a housewife, who was believed to be strangled in her house on Aug 14, after police released all her family members who were picked up for investigations on police bail yesterday (Wednesday).

The victim, who was initially reported missing, was discovered dead in her home. Police later detained her husband, father, father-in-law and mother-in-law to facilitate investigations.

Yahaya said police were still in the midst of tracking down the suspect and establishing the motive of the killing.

"We have obtained some fresh leads and are trying to scrutinise them. We advise the public not to spread unverified information or make any assumptions on the incident," he said.

Yahaya asked for space to investigate when pressed further if the suspect was someone whom the victim knew, as there were no signs of forced entry into the premises on the day the victim was found dead.
