BMW on the wrong side of the road, crashes, kills MyVi driver

KUALA LUMPUR: A 21-year-old man was killed when a BMW, travelling against the traffic, rammed into his Perodua MyVi at Jalan Tun Razak near the National Library here, early this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ahmad Alrefarr A Azmi from Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Selangor.

City Traffic Investigation and Legal Affairs staff officer Deputy Supt Shafie Daud said the 2.40am accident occurred when the BMW driver entered the opposing direction from the KLCC tunnel and was not able to re-enter the correct lane.

“The 23-year-old BMW driver then continued on the wrong way and crashed into the MyVi at Jalan Tun Razak.

“The MyVi driver killed on the spot while the BMW driver sustained minor injuries. The MyVi driver was alone during the accident and BMW driver was with three passengers.

“One of the BMW passengers also sustained injuries,” he said.

DSP Shafie said the investigating officer had recorded statements from the BMW driver and witnesses.

“She tested negative for alcohol in the initial test, however we are taking her urine and blood for another test,” he said.

The investigation is conducted under Section 41of the Road Transport Act 1987.
