PEKAN: The Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah conferred state awards and medals on 215 recipients in conjunction with his 86th birthday at Istana Abu Bakar here today.
Heading the recipients list were Special Adviser to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar, who was among 10 individuals conferred with the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) award, which carries the title "Datuk Seri".
Other SSAP award recipients were Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) Pro Chancellor and Chairman Datuk Dr Adham Baba; Mara director-general Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad; Head of Tasik Chini Research Centre Professor Datuk Dr Mushrifah Idris Ahmad Zaki; Resources Berhad Managing Director Datuk Wan Zakariah Wan Muda; lawyer Datuk Noorhuda Alias; Bharat Group managing director Datuk Kesav Kumar Agarwal; Terumtum Chicken Processing Centre manager Datuk Chow Liong; and company director Datuk S. Kanagendran.
The awards were conferred by Acting Regent of Pahang Tengku Mahkota Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, on behalf of Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Five people received the Sri Indera Mahkota Pahang (SIMP), another 15 the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP) and 77 the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP). All three awards carry the title "Datuk".
The SIMP recipients were Court of Appeal president Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif's wife Puan Sri Salwany Mohamaed Zamri; Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin's wife Puan Sri Rohani Mohamed Kassim; Pahang State Development officer Datuk Zulkifli Yaacob; Bharat Group managing director Datuk Vinod Kumar Agarwal; and Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd deputy chief executive officer Datuk Tan Hui Jing.
The DSAP recipients included Lebanese Ambassador to Malaysia Ali Daher; National Registration Department (NRD) director-general Mohd Yazid Ramli; Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director (Legal and Prosecution) Masri Mohd Daud; Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) halal division director Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee; Malaysian Consulate General to Jeddah Mohammad Ali Selamat; Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital medical department chief Dr Mohd Ramli Seman; and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Skudai registrar Wan Mohd Zawawi Wan Abd Rahman.
The DIMP recipients were Second Deputy Home Minister Masir Kujat; Asia Pacific Forum On Families (APFAM) executive secretary Tengku Raihanah Tengku Ismail; Pahang Agriculture office director Mohd Anim Hosnan; Pahang Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) director Zaul Abd Hamid; former New Straits Times sports editor Lazarus Karunakaran Rokk; Royal Selangor Golf Club captain Chang See Tum; Felcra Berhad regional general manager Abdul Mutalib Tais; the Health Minister's press secretary K. Sivakumar; and East Coast Economic Region Development general manager Mazlan Sharudin.
The list also includes 13 recipients of the Setia Ahmad Shah Pahang, 25 of the Setia Mahkota Pahang, six of the Ahli Ahmad Shah Pahang, 29 of the Ahli Mahkota Pahang, nine of the Pingat Khidmat Cemerlang, seven of the Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji and 19 of the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian awards.
