20 foreign teens rescued from suspected Perak brothel

IPOH: Bukit Aman police rescued 19 Myanmar and one Vietnamese teenagers believed to have been trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation by a syndicate at a wellness centre at Jalan Kampar here on Thursday.

State Criminal Investigation Department Datuk Gan Tian Kee said the raid was conducted by Bukit Aman's Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti- Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Unit at 5.45pm based on public tip-offs and police intelligence.

Gan said the 20 teenagers are aged below 17 years old.

"Police arrested three men, believed to be working at the premises, and two customers at the wellness centre during the raid," he said in a statement here.

A number of "equipment", believed to be involved in prostitution activities, was also confiscated, in addition to RM6,670 in cash, 175 condoms, two walkie talkies, two bottles of lubricants and three remote controls for the main and hidden doors, Gan added.

"Police will obtain remand orders for the five arrested to assist in the investigation under Section 12 and 14 of the Atipsom Act 2007," he said.
