PETALING JAYA: The two-year-old toddler who died Tuesday from alleged abuse was not sexually assaulted.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din has disclosed the post-mortem result, stating that the toddler had died from internal injuries as a result of being pummelled.
He added that there was no indication of sexual abuse.
However, Zani refused to divulge further details on the findings.
Earlier, preliminary investigations revealed that the girl had bruises all over her body, believed to have been cause by being beaten with a blunt object, as well as injuries on her private parts.
On Tuesday, the girl was sent to her babysitter’s place at the Impian Baiduri Apartment in Section 51A here. The babysitter had claimed that the child appeared weak and sick. The babysitter then proceeded to call the child’s mother.
The girl was rushed to the University Malaya Medical Centre but doctors pronounced her dead at 5.45pm.
Police had arrested the child’s mother and the mother’s boyfriend to facilitate investigations.
The babysitter and her husband were also picked up but they have since been released.
