PUTRAJAYA: The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) is investigating the allegations by a Thai masseuse that she was raped by an immigration officer at the Machap Umboo detention centre in Malacca.
EAIC chairman Datuk Yaacob Md Sam said the commission will identify if there was any misconduct committed by the enforcement officers or the Immigration Department.
He said EAIC will also investigate if there was a non-compliance to the detention centre's standard operating procedures and Immigration circular in handling and managing detainees at the depot involved.
"The EAIC leaves this case to the police to probe the rape offence, based on the report lodged by the complainant.
"EAIC views this issue seriously and will conduct the investigation in a transparent manner and without prejudice."
EAIC was responding to a New Straits Times report, in which a Thai masseuse claimed she was raped and forced to perform oral sex by an immigration officer early this month.
The 32-year-old woman later alerted her sister about the incident. The woman's 28-year-old sister was also detained with three others after immigration officers raided a massage centre in Melaka Raya on March 7.
