Ebit Lew's counsel claims prosecution will discontinue rape claim charges

KUALA LUMPUR: The defence of Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew or Ebit Lew today claimed that the prosecution will not continue with a rape charge linked to Indonesian woman, Mondy Tattoo.

Ebit Lew's counsel, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader, said the police had concluded its probe and the prosecution had decided not to continue with the case.

"The police report linked to the rape case was made by Mondy on Sept 14 last year and the police had finished with its investigations recently.

"Ebit Lew will not be charged because there is no case.

"I was informed by the police that case exhibits, such as a handphone and the sim card of the preacher, were returned back yesterday.

"The (rape) claim is very serious but there is no case. The defamation (case) against Mondy is set for assessment damages on July 1 and the Shah Alam Sessions Court will decide on the quantum," he said.

On Oct 11 last year, it was reported that investigation papers (IP) on the rape claims and sexual harassment involving Ebit Lew, who is also a preacher, were handed over to the Attorney-General's Chamber (A-GC).

Federal Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain had said the two investigation papers have been referred to the A-GC for further action.

On Sept 22 the same year, Ebit Lew reportedly filed a defamation suit against social media influencer Caprice and Mondy.

Mondy previously made police reports over alleged sexual harassment on her by the preacher.

Ebit Lew had also lodged police reports claiming that defamatory remarks were made against him.

The police recorded a statement from the rapper and Mondy over the allegations.
