KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the public yesterday foiled a snatch thief’s plans when they caught him red-handed at Jalan Puteri, Puchong on Saturday.
Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Aminuddin Megat Alias said the 19-year-old suspect had snatched a 40-year-old woman's purse before he fell from his motorcycle in the 2.15pm incident.
He said the suspect was then apprehended by the members of the public before he was handed over to the police.
He said the victim suffered minor injuries but managed to retrieve her purse.
Megat said the suspect, who has a previous criminal record, was remanded under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery today.
