KLANG: Police have arrested the second suspect believed to be involved in two snatch theft cases, including one that occurred on Jalan Kangar 87, Batu 2 1/4, where a clip of the incident went viral on social media.
South Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said a team from the district police Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested the 21-year-old suspect around 6.30pm on Sunday.
"He was caught at a house at Taman Sentosa here.
"The suspect was caught as part of our follow up action involving a snatch theft case which occurred along Jalab Batu Nilam 4, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 1, here," he said.
Cha said police also seized a motorcycle which was used to commit the crime.
"The suspect has no prior record. We have remanded this suspect for three days to facilitate further investigations," he said.
Police initially arrested a man following a report from a 30-year-old woman linked to the two snatch theft cases.
The incident occurred on Nov 16 around 8.20pm, as the victim and her mother walked toward a parking lot on Jalan Batu Nilam 4, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 1.
They were approached by two men on a motorcycle.
One suspect brandished a knife and threatened the victim, leading to a struggle.
During the altercation, the suspect slashed the victim's right hand and her mother's finger before fleeing with the victim's handbag.
Police are investigating the case under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt during a robbery.
Further investigations revealed that the suspect was also involved in a snatch theft incident in North Klang, which recently went viral online.
