KUALA LUMPUR: Police picked up four security guards today to facilitate investigations into a robbery where RM800,000 cash was taken from a petrol station in Bukit Antarabangsa here yesterday.

The three men and a woman, aged between 21 and 33 were on duty to replenish an automated teller machine when four men on two motorcycles pulled over and carted away two bags of cash at about 5pm.

One of the robbers was armed with a pistol.

Selangor police Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmad said police detained the four people about eight hours after the heist.

“Police have obtained seven-day remand order for the suspects. We have also recovered 15 bags containing cash in a van.

“The bags have been returned to the bank,” he said, adding police have yet to recover the pistol used in the robbery.

The investigating team is still on the hunt for the suspects.

Police call on those with information on the case to contact investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Hidayat Harun at 019-2112420.

In the robbery, the four guards went to the ATM machine at a petrol station and were about to replenish it with cash when four men approached them on two motorcycles.

One of the men armed with a pistol fired a warning shot in the air and grabbed a pump gun held by one of the guards. One of the guards was reportedly hit on the head with the pump gun.

The men then forced the guards to hand over two bags containing the cash placed in the armoured van before they fled with the cash.

The pump gun was tossed to the roadside.
