LAWAS: Police have obtained a three-day remand order against two women for allegedly forcing a 14-year-old girl into prostitution.
One of the women, a 30-year-old school dropout who works at a karaoke centre here, is the girl’s own mother.
The other woman, 45, is the operator of the karaoke centre.
The two women, clad in orange lock-up uniforms, were produced at the Lawas district office here on Monday where the remand order was granted.
It was reported that the girl, accompanied by a village chief, lodged a report over her predicament at the Lawas police station here at 10.55am on Sunday.
She claimed that she was forced by her mother and the karaoke centre operator to have sex with an unidentified man in April this year.
The victim alleged that her mother, who is debt-ridden, had forced her to follow the man to a hotel here, where she was raped three times.
The victim also claimed that she saw the man pay RM1,000 to the karaoke centre operator.
The women were arrested at two different locations yesterday.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, and Section 43 (1)(a) and (d) of the Child Act 2001.
Police are still looking for a third suspect – the man who had raped the girl.
