SUBANG JAYA: A businessman lodged a police report claiming that his car was stolen in Bukit Puchong last Friday.
Sensing something was amiss the officer, who took the statement, questioned the 33-year-old man.
The policeman’s instincts proved to be correct.
“The man admitted that his car was not stolen. Police traced the car and his brother is using it,” said Subang Jaya district police chief assistant commissioner Mohammad Azlin Sadari.
“Now, he is being investigated for making a false report.
“We have taken his statement and he was released on bail.”
Azlin said the man did not have a criminal record.
He added that individuals who lodged false police reports could be jailed a maximum of six months or fined not more than RM2,000, or both if they were found guilty.
