Jealousy is motive in tahfiz student's abuse

KUANTAN: The abuse that led to the death of a seven-year-old tahfiz student on Thursday was driven by jealousy.

Pahang police chief Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said the other students were jealous of Muhammad Aimin Nurul Amin because he was the youngest and therefore he received more attention from the couple who run the tahfiz school.

“Due to jealousy of the victim’s closeness with the couple, a fight ensued between them and Muhammad Aimin was beaten up,” he said when contacted today.

Muhammad Aimin was pronounced dead at Lanchang health clinic in Temerloh at 2pm on Thursday after he was found to be in a weak condition by the tahfiz’s warden.

Following the incident, three students, including the victim’s stepbrother, had been detained to assist in investigation.

Abdul Jalil said post-mortem on the victim’s body found injuries on his chest and abdomen.

“There are hard and blunt force trauma to his chest and abdomen. However, we are investigating further,” he said, adding that the three suspects have been remanded for one week starting yesterday.
