ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor police busted a Macau Scam syndicate with the arrests of seven Chinese nationals during a raid at a house in Horizon Hills here, on Friday.
Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the raid was carried out by a team from the Johor and Iskandar Puteri Commercial Crime Investigation Department.
"The raid was carried out as a result of intelligence gathered by police.
“During the 3.50pm raid, we also seized eight laptop computers, eight handphones and four routers," said Dzulkhairi.
He said initial investigations showed that the suspects, men aged between 20 and 30, did not have valid travel documents.
"We believe the syndicate has been active for the past one month. We are also investigating whether it is related to other syndicates that were busted before," said Dzulkhairi.
He said all the suspects have been remanded until Jan 17.
"The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959," said Dzulkhairi.
