GEORGE TOWN: Center to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4 Centre) activist K. Sudhagaran Stanley Singh who was detained on Monday night was released today.
Earlier today, he was taken to the George Town court complex, where the magistrate's Court assistant registrar Muhammad Azam Md Eusoff allowed for one day remand.
However, hours later, he was released on police bail, which was confirmed by his lawyer RSN Rayer.
A news portal quoting his wife Alicia Sudhagaran said police had came to their home and took him away at about 10pm on Sunday.
Sudhagaran's arrest was believed to be related to his Facebook posting on the vandalised murals at Shah Alam.
Federal Criminal Investigation Department deputy director (Investigation/Legal) Deputy Commissioner Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said he was being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
"We received a report at Jalan Tun Razak police station that he was believed to have made several statements including one for disputing police action during Movement Control Order (MCO)," he said when contacted.
