KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a Nepalese man suspected of beating a security guard of the same nationality here, recently.
A 44-second video clip of the incident, which went viral on July 31, caused outrage across the country.
Wangsa Maju District Police chief Superintendent Rajab Ahad Ismail said the 34-year-old suspect was arrested at 5pm yesterday through cooperation with the Nepal Embassy here.
"The suspect will be remanded (today) for further investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement.
However, he added that the whereabouts of the victim are still unknown, and called on the public to come forward to provide information on the case.

In the video, a man is seen slapping and hitting a security guard, believed to be a foreigner, with a stick.
Police investigations subsequently found that the incident took place at the parking lot of a condominium in Jalan Madrasah, Wangsa Maju, on July 7.
