SERDANG: A 35-year-old man was shot outside his house at Jalan BK 5/3, Bandar Kinrara, here this afternoon.
The man, who is a former IT company owner, was with his wife and baby and they were about to leave their house for lunch at 12.45pm.
With his family in the car, he exited his vehicle to shut the gate when he heard someone calling out his name.
As he turned around, he was shot in his left abdomen by a man, who then fled on a motorcycle.
An ambulance was summoned and he was rushed to the hospital.
Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismadi Borhan said the victim sustained injuries in his left rib but is now out of danger.
"He is receiving treatment now and is stable," Ismadi said.
He said investigators have identified a possible suspect and they hope to make an arrest soon.
It is believed that the victim had managed to get a glance at the suspect before the latter made his escape.
"The district police Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder," he said.
Ismadi said the Selangor state forensic department officers were also present at the scene to assist in the investigation.
