Tajuddin compounded RM1,500 for not wearing facemask at PC

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been slapped with RM1,500 compound for not wearing a facemask during the Kelana Jaya line train collision press conference at the KLCC LRT station on May 25.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said this was the decision made by the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).

"The investigation papers on Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman's violation of the standard operating procedures (SOP) came back on June 8.

"The AGC decided that he will be compounded RM1,500 for breaching Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations 2021 for not wearing a facemask at the train collision press conference at the KLCC LRT station," he said in a statement today.

Zainal said police would issue the compound soon.

He also reminded the public to continue following the SOPs set by the National Security Council in combating Covid-19.

The Pasir Salak member of parliament held a press conference at the KLCC station on May 25 after inspecting the scene where two trains collided. He was only wearing a face shield throughout the event.

Later, Zainal confirmed that Tajuddin had paid the RM1,500 compound at the Lembah Pantai Health office at 3.30pm today.
