KAMPAR: A 72-year old man has been remanded for seven days to assist in a police probe into the murder of his 74-year-old wife at a double-storey home in Taman Desa Cahaya, Gopeng, yesterday.
District police chief Superintendent Hasron Nazri Hashim said the remand order, expired on Aug 16, was obtained from the Kampar magistrate court today.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"The investigation is still ongoing and the cause of the incident is still unknown," he said when contacted.
Yesterday, Hasron said the suspect had called his grandson about 7.30am yesterday, to inform him of the woman's death.
He said the grandson and his mother then rushed to the house and found the victim unconscious with slash wounds on the neck.
He said police later found a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, next to the victim.
Checks, he added, showed no signs of a break-in.
