CAMERON HIGHLANDS: Police yesterday arrested a lorry driver here over the rape of a 15-year-old girl, who he met on an online dating app.
The 29-year-old suspect, who has a criminal record for drug offences, was picked by policemen about 3.20am.
A 33-year-old friend, who has a criminal record for drug offences and and vehicle theft, was also detained.
Cameron Highlands police chief Superintendent Azri Ramli said the victim had lodged a report on Dec 13.
She claimed that she was raped by an individual who she befriended on a dating app.
"The victim told police that she met him and got into his car. She claimed that the suspect drove her to Kedah and she was raped four times," said Azri.
"The suspect dropped her off at a back alley in Cameron Highlands where she was found by a passer-by, who took her to the police station. The victim is being treated at a specialist hospital," he said in a statement today.
"The suspect is being held on remand until Dec 20," he added.
