IPOH: Police arrested a 21-year-old man believed to have killed his aunt at a home in Taman Puteri Lindungan Bulan, Pasir Puteh, today.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner, Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said police received information from the public, who had discovered a 54-year-old woman unconscious and locked in a room of the house at 8.31am today.
Abang Zainal Abidin, in a statement, said that an initial examination of the deceased at the scene found the body in a decomposed state.
"Following this, the deceased was sent to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun here for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
"Police also arrested the man, who is the nephew of the deceased, to assist with the investigation," he said, adding that a remand application will be made at the Magistrate's Court here tomorrow.
He added that urine tests on the suspect returned negative for drugs, and he has no prior criminal record.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
