Traditional healer nabbed for raping patient [NSTTV]

PASIR MAS: A former South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) driver, who is a 'bomoh' (traditional healer), was detained by police for allegedly raping his patient last week.

The 67-year-old bomoh was detained at his house in Tendong here about midnight last Thursday.

Pasir Mas police chief Assistant Commissioner Nasaruddin Md Nasir said the suspect locally known as 'Ayah Su', was arrested soon after police received a report from the victim.

"In the report, the 23-year-old victim who is a food stall assistant, claimed the incident happened about 3pm on Oct 14.

"The victim went to the bomoh's house with her mother and her future husband to get some treatment when the incident happened.

"She was in the room with the suspect when she was raped by him," he told a Press conference here today.

Nasaruddin said the victim then revealed the incident to her family and future husband before lodging a police report at Bunut Susu station.

He added initial investigations showed that the suspect who was assisted by his wife known as 'Mak Su', has been working as a traditional healer since 1985.

"Police also believe the suspect may have performed sexual acts with more than 10 of his patients. However, all victims did not lodge reports," he added.

He said the suspect has been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday to assist police investigations into the case.

He also urged those who have been cheated by the suspect to lodge a police report.
