KUALA LUMPUR: With the collaboration and assistance of international enforcement agencies, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has so far recovered RM20.53 billion worth of assets linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
In a statement today, the anti-graft agency said the latest recovery was on Nov 12 when the Singaporean Commercial Affairs Department returned USD$ 864,813.27 (approximately RM3.61 million) that belonged to former SRC International Sdn Bhd chief executive officer, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil.
MACC stated that the amount was credited to the Finance Ministry's Assets Recovery Trust Account.
MACC informed that it is currently actively pursuing the recovery of 1MDB linked assets domestically and internationally, including in the United States, United Arab Emirates, Taiwan and Singapore.
"The Singaporean government had previously assisted in retrieving USD$15.4 million (approximately RM64.42 million) that involved Cutting Edge Industries Ltd, belonging to Datuk Tawfiq Ayman and Samuel Goh.
"At the same time, the MACC is also in the process of assisting other countries such as
Switzerland, Kuwait, Mauritius, Cyprus, Hong Kong to recover assets that involved individuals linked to 1MDB," MACC said in the statement.
