Two more MACC officers arrested over gang robbery in Jalan Ampang

KUALA LUMPUR: Police today confirmed the arrest of two more Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers in connection with a gang robbery in Jalan Ampang.

Federal Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hassan said the two officers, aged 37 and 39, were detained to facilitate police probe into the Dec 10 robbery at a businessman's house in Jalan Ampang.

"Police, under the Federal Classified Crime Investigation Unit, are investigating the two men's alleged involvement in the RM700,000 robbery," he said in a statement today.

The case, he said, was being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery, adding that the two MACC officers had been remanded until Dec 19, starting today.

"We urge the public to remain calm and refrain from making unnecessary speculations, until police investigations are completed," he said.

On Monday, police had detained two suspects in their 30s to facilitate investigation. One of the two was a MACC officer.

All four suspects are being investigated for allegedly carrying out a gang robbery at a house in Jalan Ampang at noon, last Friday.

It was reported that police had recorded at least 12 statements from those related to the incident.
