KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Rohana Rozhan has pledged to work with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in a probe linking her to a US$10 million (RM41.8 million) London home allegedly purchased using 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) money and gifted to her.
In a brief press release issued today through law firm Messrs Valen, Oh & Partners, Rohana confirmed she had gone to the MACC and assisted the commission in the course of investigations.
"I refer to allegations appearing in the media about me. I have attended the offices of MACC and given them my full cooperation in their investigations," she said in the press release which carried her signature.
It was also signed by her lawyer M. Puravalen.
Ex-Goldman Sachs banker Tim Leissner, appearing as the star witness in the trial of his one-time subordinate Roger Ng over 1MDB-related corruption charges in the United States, had claimed that he had a 10-year affair with Rohana, who was Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd group chief executive officer.
He had claimed Rohana blackmailed him, saying that she would expose his involvement in the 1MDB scandal as she was upset that he wanted to end their relationship to be with model Kimora Lee Simmons, whom he eventually married.
Leissner then bought the house in London for Rohana.
Berita Harian had earlier reported that MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that an investigation was launched against Rohana.
A source said Rohana was being probed under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2021.
It was reported that Rohana had spent over eight hours with MACC investigators yesterday and would be called again if necessary.
