Woman spotted in Shah Alam was not Zalina Azman, say cops [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: It wasn't former TV3 newscaster Zalina Azman who was spotted in two different locations at a cafe and lake gardens in Shah Alam, said police.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said his investigating officers found that a woman, said to resemble the missing television personality, was a homeless person.

"We have also checked with the cafe staff and found that the woman who had gone to the premises was the same homeless person who was found at the Lake Gardens in Section 2.

"The person who tipped us off had genuine intentions to assist in the search. Unfortunately, the person was not Zalina.

"We welcome information from those who are in the know and we will not stop looking for her," he said today.

He added that so far, no police report has been made by the public on the disappearance of Zalina, who vanished without a trace since November last year.

On Nov 29, 2021, police received a missing persons report on Zalina from her son, Mikhael Norman,33.

He lodged a report after failing to contact Zalina since Nov 24, 2021 to inform that her father had been admitted to hospital.

Iqbal yesterday said they had worked closely with various agencies including the Immigration Department, the Health Ministry, the Companies Commission of Malaysia and telecommunication companies to track Zalina.

He said there were no immigration records to indicate Zalina had left Malaysia and she was not listed as a patient at any hospital.

Her handphone number had been inactive since.
