Foreigner dies in alleged Bentong farm murder, another detained for investigations

BENTONG: A foreigner died after sustaining serious injuries in a fight which broke out at a vegetable farm in Lebu, near here yesterday.

The 27-year-old victim died while being treated at the Bentong Hospital about 5.40am.

Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said police were alerted about a fight which occurred at the farm about 2.50am.

"Policemen found the victim seriously injured and rushed him to Bentong Hospital where he later died. His body was taken to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh for post-mortem.

"A 26-year-old foreigner has been detained to facilitate investigations and a 12-inch knife believed to have been used during the fight was recovered at the scene," he said, adding that the suspect had been remanded for seven days till Aug 23 to shed light on the incident.

Zaiham said police were in the midst of identifying the cause of the fight and what led to the victim's death.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and urged those with information to come forward to assist investigations.
