BENTONG: Seven people including a local have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 38-year-old foreigner inside a container at a factory here yesterday.
The victim was found lying on the floor with multiple injuries believed to have been stabbed with a sharp object about 11pm.
Pahang Police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said policemen had gone to the scene and found the male victim on the second floor of the container which has been converted into a foreign workers' quarters.
"About 1.25am today, police arrested seven people including six foreigners by the road side at Taman Chegar Medang here. We believe the suspects aged between 27 and 39 years old were trying to flee in a car.
"Police have remanded the suspects for seven days till Sept 19 for questioning. We are still investigating the motive of the attack," he said in a statement today.
He said the case was investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not possessing a valid pass or document to enter Malaysia.
Yahaya said the victim's body was sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospitals's Forensic Department in Kuantan for a post-mortem.
