TEMERLOH: Police have detained seven men in connection with several viral videos of a group of people involved in a fight in Mentakab town early yesterday.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 35, were detained from various locations in Mentakab yesterday.
Temerloh police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusoff, said the department had not received any report on the incident, believed to have taken place sometime after midnight yesterday.
"Police initiated an investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 160 for public disturbance. We detained seven people and are tracking down several others who were present during the incident.
"We urge those with information on the incident to contact our investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Irmawathy Mohamad Yusof, at 012-2822874 or the nearest police station," he said in a statement today.
He said police had come across an eight-second video of the brawl via WhatsApp.
In the video, several men were seen involved in a fight in Mentakab town. One of them was spotted hurling a motorcycle helmet towards the crowd.
