KUALA LUMPUR: Comedian Ali Puteh will pay RM60,000 in instalments to his sister-in-law Siti Norhidayah Mohd Ali (or Hidayah), the widow of Abam Bocey as previously determined by the court.
Ali said that the payment process was still being discussed between his lawyer and Hidayah's lawyer.
"I have told the lawyer that I will make instalment payments to Hidayah, who is the widow of comedian Abam Bocey, with my own money.
"My lawyer has also sent a letter regarding the matter to Hidayah's lawyer, but they have not yet given feedback regarding the instalment payment," he told Harian Metro.
Ali said this when asked to comment on a video posted on Hidayah's Instagram, asking him to expedite the payment of RM60,000 as previously ordered by the court.
Hidayah had filed a lawsuit against Ali, whose real name is Syed Ali Mubarak Syed Mohd Ridzuan, in May 2020, over his statement that alleged she was irresponsible and coveted her late husband's inheritance.
The statement was made public via Ali Puteh's Instagram page.
The Sessions Court, on Feb 18 last year, ordered Ali Puteh to pay RM60,000 in damages to Siti Norhidayah; and rejected Ali Puteh and his family members' lawsuit filed against Aliff Syukri and the widow regarding an interview that was broadcast live on Aliff Syukri's YouTube page.
Ali Puteh's brother, who was publicly known as Abam or Syed Umar Mukhtar Syed Mohd Ridzuan, passed away on Feb 10, 2020. He was down with a high fever for two days and a headache before his death.
Meanwhile, when asked about the key to Abam's house as requested by Hidayah, Ali said that he cannot hand it over to Hidayah because the house is still in the faraid (inheritance) claim case.
"Hidayah is managing the Faraid claim involving the division of the deceased's property, and it has not yet been completed," he said.
Ali also denied Hidayah's claim that the house was abandoned.
He claimed that the house is now being looked after by his younger brother, who is staying there temporarily until the case of Farid claim is settled.
