KUALA LUMPUR: A suspect has been arrested following the theft of RM60,000 in cash and jewellery from a residence in Kuala Selangor.
On Wednesday morning, Kuala Selangor police received a report from a woman about the break-in at her home in Taman Bendahara.
Kuala Selangor District Police chief Mohd Ambia Nordin confirmed officers arrested a local male suspect in the Kuala Selangor area and recovered the stolen items.
"Records indicate that the suspect has a previous criminal history involving house burglary and theft. An initial urine screening test was negative," Nordin said in a statement.
The suspect will appear before the Kuala Selangor Magistrate's Court tomorrow for a remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist with the investigation.
"In light of this incident, we advise the public not to store large amounts of cash or valuable jewellery at home during extended absences and to ensure their homes are securely locked," he added.
