Adam Radlan charged again for bribe in connection with Jana Wibawa

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Segambut deputy division chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad has been charged at Sessions Court, here, concerning the Jana Wibawa scheme again, today.

The 42-year-old pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to one count of soliciting RM2 million bribe after the charges were read out to him before Sessions Court judge Azura Alwi this morning.

He was accused of asking for an RM2 million bribe from Lian Tan Chuan as a reward to help Nepturis Sdn Bhd to get a contract for the Klang Utara District Police Headquarters project that is worth RM141 million.

He was alleged to have committed the offence at a restaurant in Publika, here, in January 2022.

The charges against Adam Radlan were framed under Section 16(a)(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and punishable under Section 24 of the same act, which carries up to 20 years in jail and a fine of not less than five times the amount of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher, upon conviction.

Datuk Seri Rajan Navaratnam represented the accused, while deputy public prosecutor Farah Yasmin Salleh prosecuted.

Farah Yasmin had proposed for the bail and additional condition imposed on the accused to be tied to the other charges he faces at the Shah Alam court.

Judge Azura agreed with the suggestion and ordered RM300,000 bail. She also maintained the additional condition.

She fixed March 23 for re-mention.

Last week, Adam Radlan was charged with four counts of soliciting and accepting bribes concerning the Jana Wibawa scheme at the Sessions Court, here, and at Shah Alam Sessions Court.
