KUALA LUMPUR: The Customs Department has submitted its report on the RM790 million drug bust in Australia to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Sources confirmed the matter but declined to elaborate on the content of the report.
"Yes, the report has been submitted.
"The department will only release the report (to the public) once the Finance Ministry is satisfied with the findings," said the sources when contacted.
It was reported that the Australian authorities seized 336kg of heroin worth A$268.8 million (RM789.56 million) in a container sent from here to Brisbane, the second biggest shipment ever detected back in March.
Checks by the Australian Federal police showed that the consignment was declared as solar panel accessories and had arrived in Brisbane the same day that it left Malaysia.
The drugs were hidden in two blocks of concrete weighing 500kg each.
Authorities managed to drill into the cement blocks and recover 960 packets, each containing about 350g of heroin.
Following a news report on the seizure, Anwar ordered a multiple agency investigations and ordered for a report on the matter within one to two weeks.
