ALOR STAR: Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh has issued a stern warning to political parties to steer clear of sensitive issues concerning race, religion and royalty (3Rs) in their campaigning ahead of the state election.

He said Kedah police have formed a special investigation unit dedicated to addressing any violations concerning the 3R issues raised during the campaign."Once a case is documented, whether in the form of video evidence or any other medium, police will open an investigation on it.

"Actions are taken based on existing laws and regulations to protect the sanctity of these three elements. "If action is taken, do not accuse or blame the police.. (of conspiring against any party)," he said at a press conference after attending Kedah police contingent monthly assembly here today.

Fisol emphasised the need for unity and harmony in society, cautioning against allowing political differences to sow discord.

"We do not condone that. We live in a harmonious society and it's our responsibility to preserve it," he added. Meanwhile, Fisol also reminded organisers of political events ahead of the state polls to notify the police in advance .

"I urge organisers of political gatherings or events to notify the police about any activities being conducted."Under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, please consider the benefits when you notify of the events, the police will provide cooperation," he added.

"It is our initiative to remind this in advance so that everyone understands that they have to be accountable if investigations are made if any accidents happen," he added. He assured that all district police headquarters in the state were ready to extend assistance and support to all organisers.
