Woman dies after being stabbed 13 times by ex-husband

KOTA BARU: Jealousy may have been a possible motive behind the murder of a 42-year-old woman who was stabbed to death by her ex-husband here this morning.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the incident happened at Taman Desa Darulnaim near Kubang Kerian here.

He said police found the victim's body in a pool of blood at the living room around 3am.

"A police party was sent to the scene after receiving an emergency call and discovered the woman's body with 13 stab wounds.

"The body of the mother-of-three was sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital," he said in a statement.

Zaki said according to eye-witnesses, an argument was heard between the victim and the suspect who was the woman's former husband.

"The victim, who had separated with her husband several months ago, has three children, aged 14 to 24.

"The argument is believed to be due to the man suspecting his ex-wife of having an affair with another man," he said.

Zaki said the 51-year-old suspect, who tried to kill himself, was later arrested by the police.

The knife which was used in the killing has been seized by the police, he said.

"The suspect who is now being treated at the same hospital for serious injuries, will be remanded soon," he added.
