KOTA BARU: Investigations into alleged remarks touching on race, religion and royalty involving Caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng are about 70 per cent complete.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police were expected to complete the investigations and submit the papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers soon.
He said police have recorded statements from the three party leaders between July 3 to 14.
"Investigations are now about 70 per cent complete in the three separate probes related to their alleged remarks touching on race, religion and royalty.
"So far, we only recorded statements from the three. There are no fresh reports on the 3R issue," he told a press conference after a briefing on preparations by police for the state elections here today.
Present was state police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun. Razarudin said police also received other reports, but they were for various offences.
It is learnt that police had opened 61 investigation papers related to the 3R issue since March 27 involving politicians, former politicians and non-governmental organisations.
