Loke takes Hadi to task for dragging DAP into Najib addendum issue

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has criticised Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang for dragging DAP into the 'royal addendum' issue involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said DAP leaders had nothing to do with the issue.

"This despicable act reflects a pattern of Pas' political game, where they only know how to blame DAP, using the slogan 'Semua salah DAP' (everything is DAP's fault)."

He said no DAP leaders, including its cabinet members, were involved in matters related to the addendum, stressing that the pardon process comes solely under the jurisdiction of the Pardons Board.

"In addition, all Pardons Board matters are done upon the advice of the Attorney General to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong," he said in a statement.

Loke claimed Pas was doing so to undermine Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's administration and destabilise the unity government.

Loke urged Malaysians to reject what he described as "cheap and despicable political tactics" by Pas.

"DAP remains committed to supporting the unity government under Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership and is confident in the sincerity of all coalition members in rejecting Pas' attempts to destabilise the government.

Hadi, in an earlier statement, had slammed the Pakatan Harapan administration and singled out DAP in response to the Court of Appeal's decision to allow Najib to initiate a judicial review on the existence of a royal addendum order to grant him house arrest.

Najib is currently serving a six-year prison sentence for misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International.

In the Court of Appeal yesterday, Najib's counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah read out the alleged addendum order by the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong which allowed Najib to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest.
