KUALA LUMPUR: Following his arrest on Tuesday, founder and chairman of the Malik Group of Companies, Abdul Malik Dasthigeer or better known as "Datuk Malik" says he gave full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in an Instagram video today.
After being released on bail the following day, Datuk Malik thanked family and friends who had shown support for him saying he is "forever indebted to their kindness".
"Let's hope for the best and (that) justice will prevail," he said in his Instagram video.
He added that he had given full disclosure when questioned by the MACC and will continue to cooperate with authorities.
The businessman was arrested by the MACC under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (Amla).
Known for bringing in artistes from India to perform Tamil concerts in Malaysia, the Malik Group of companies comprises Malik Streams Corporation Sdn Bhd, Malik Maju Sdn Bhd, Malik Streams Properties Sdn Bhd, Malik Streams Antenna Movies Sdn Bhd, and Malik Streams Production & Distribution.
