Umno member lodges report against Papagomo for insulting Anwar

ALOR STAR: An Umno member has lodged a police report against former party Youth leader Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris or popularly known as Papagomo over a video allegedly insulting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Kedah police Crime Prevention and Community Security Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Alzafny Ahmad said the report was lodged by a Pendang Umno division committee member yesterday.

"On Aug 1, about 1.45pm Kedah police received a report regarding an insult against the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

"The complainant, a Pendang Umno division committee member said he had viewed a video on the TikTok account Projek Papa that contained elements insulting the Prime Minister of Malaysia and seditious elements that could sow fear and discord among the people.

"The case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988," Alzafny said in a statement today.

It is understood that the report was lodged over Wan Muhammad Azri's TikTok video commenting on Alor Star High Court injunction granted to Anwar against caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

It was reported that the gag order that was issued on Sunday, restrains Sanusi from uttering, repeating and publishing statements relating to Anwar's defamation suit filed against him, on any platform, until after the trial or any further court order.

This includes restraining Sanusi from uttering, repeating and publishing statements at any ceramah, event, interview, posting or publication in the media against Anwar.

For the record, Wan Muhammad Azri is a former national Umno Youth executive council member. He is among the party members slapped with a six-year suspension for breaching the party discipline.
