Gua Musang Umno youth member files police report against Takiyuddin over land grant comment

GUA MUSANG: A Gua Musang Umno Youth member filed a police report today against Pas Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan over his recent comments regarding land grants.

Muhamad Zaidi Zakir Saari, a committee member of the division, submitted the report at the Gua Musang police station around 3 pm.

Speaking to reporters later, Zaidi said the Pas leader has issued the statement during a recent ceramah in Bertam Baru, here.

"I was watching YouTube at home in Felda Perasu at about 9pm on Aug 5 when l saw the Pas live ceramah in Bertam Baru that was held on Aug 3.

Zaidi claimed Takiyuddin asserted that the federal government lacks authority over land matters and warned that voters in Nenggiri could face problems if they do not support a state government candidate.

"His remarks are more a threat to the Nenggiri voters who, desperately need land ownership," he said.

In addition to that, Zaidi said Takiyuddin who is Kota Baru member of parliament also made a defamatory statement that the South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) does not process applications for land to be given to the people.

"I have filed this report to prompt a police investigation into these statements, which I believe contravene the Election Offences Act 1954," Zaidi said.

Yesterday, Kesedar chairman Datuk Zawawi Othman said he may sue Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan over the latter's remarks on land grants.

Zawawi said that if Takiyuddin does not retract his claim that Kesedar had delayed processing "thousands" of land grants, despite the state government's approval, he would consider legal action after the Nenggiri by-election.

In response, Takiyuddin said he would address Zawawi's accusations in an upcoming ceramah, which is scheduled to be held in Nenggiri soon.
