BUTTERWORTH: Independent candidate for the Bagan Dalam state seat, M. Satees has lodged a police report after he and his agent were allegedly surrounded, heckled and threatened by supporters of Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the same seat.
Satees said the incident happened at SK Sg Nyior, where he had gone to inspect the ballot boxes, after what happened at one of the polling streams in Paya Terubong today where the ballot box was unsealed.
"As we entered to check the ballot boxes, my agent and I were surrounded, heckled and threatened.
"One of them challenged me to a fight while another threatened me with the words 'Kamu tunggu selepas esok.
"They also brought several men with them without valid passes," he said.
He said when they walked out of the school, the same thing happened.
He lodged the police report at the Butterworth police station.
"I fear there is threat against me and my family," he added.
Satees, who quit DAP to stand as an independent candidate in this state election, is contesting the Bagan Dalam seat he previously held.
He is engaged in a four-cornered fight with PH's K. Kumaran, Perikatan Harapan's K. Jayaraman and PFP's S. Rajasakanan.
