KUALA LUMPUR: A masseuse was arrested in Bidong, Kedah, yesterday for allegedly posting possible death threats against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The 41-year-old local was believed to have used the Facebook account "JoeJebat Tajudin" for the posting and was picked up about 2.30pm in Taman Desa Budiman, Bidong, by a team from the Kuala Muda police headquarters.
Federal police Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the man was alleged to have posted a caption saying he hoped the prime minister's house would blow up.
"In the caption, Joe Jebat wrote 'It would be really simple if an explosion occurred at the house of PMX (referring to Anwar) who has wronged EPF contributors. Hopefully, Allah SWT will end PMX's life soon.'," he told reporters at federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
Shuhaily said action was taken against the masseuse after a police report was lodged at 3.24pm on June 26.
"The man has been remanded for four days starting today to assist investigations being carried out by the Classified Crimes Investigation Unit of Bukit Aman.
"Investigations show that the suspect has a criminal record for drug-related offences," he said.
