BACHOK: Police arrested a student and seized 7.5 litres of ketum juice in a raid at Kampung Telong yesterday.
District police chief, Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin, said the student was at the front of a wooden house in the village when police caught him.
"A police party raided the place about 6.30pm following public tip-offs on drug activities.
"Arrived at the area, they saw the teenager, who tried to escape into a nearby store after seeing the officers.
"But the officers managed to apprehend him later," he said in a statement.
Ismail said that after further checks on the 17-year-old student, they found the ketum juice.
"We suspect the juice, worth about RM150, would be sold to local addicts," he added.
He said the student tested negative for drugs, had no previous crime record, and is being held for further action.
"He is expected to be remanded soon," he said.
