Police: Remains found in abandoned house were Bella's

BATU PAHAT: Police have confirmed that the remains found in an abandoned rental house in Kampung Batu 7, Tongkang Pechah, recently belonged to Mila Sharmila Samsusah, also known as Bella.

Batu Pahat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said the results of the DNA test on the remains indicated a match with the samples taken from Bella's mother and sister.

He said the police had contacted the victim's family to claim the body at Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru.

"The DNA analysis sent to the Chemistry Department on Jan 21 has been received by the police today," he said in a statement.

The DNA test was conducted last Saturday, with the police taking tissue samples from Bella's Norhisham, 36, and her mother Noraini Salleh, 55, to determine whether the remains found in the abandoned rental house belonged to Bella or not.

Bella was reported missing on the night of Dec 14.

The woman's remains were discovered after a suspect was detained upon arriving in the country after performing umrah with family.

Earlier, it was reported that one of the three suspects detained to assist in the investigation of Bella's disappearance would be charged in the Batu Pahat Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

The charges will be filed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
