REMBAU: A 17-year-old girl received 12 stitches on her head after being kicked and hit with various objects by her father, believed to be intoxicated, at a house in Kampung Kendong Baru, near Kota here, early Wednesday morning.
Following the incident which occured around midnight, police arrested the victim's father, 47, who also has a criminal record with seven offences.
Rembau district police chief Deputy Superintendent Hazri Mohamad said a team of policemen rushed to the location upon receiving information and arrested the suspect who was in a drunken state in front of his house.
"The victim was taken to the Tampin Hospital by ambulance for further treatment and is expected to be referred to the Kuala Pilah Hospital for further medical examination.
"Further investigations found that the victim was kicked in the stomach, and suffered bruises on the right shoulder and a cut on the head and had to receive stitches.
"It is understood that the suspect used a chair, a clothing basket and an iron rod to beat the victim," he said.
The victim's father has been remanded for four days starting yesterday and the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code as well as Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.
